PGWP timing question: what matters between final grades and completion letter?

A lot of PGWP stress happens in a short window: finals are done, grades are released, but the completion letter or final transcript is not ready yet. People then get job offers, onboarding dates, or payroll timelines that don’t match school paperwork.

What are the key dates you would write down before deciding what to do next?
1) Which document is the real proof of completion at your school (completion letter, transcript, both)?
2) What would you ask the registrar to include to avoid ambiguity?
3) If a job start date is coming up, what evidence would you keep (offer letter, schedule, emails) to stay organized?
4) What mistakes have you seen people make in this gap that create avoidable problems later?

If you reply, include your province, credential level, and whether you are applying from inside Canada. Please don’t share UCI/passport details or upload private documents.

For the gap between final grades and the completion letter, it helps to separate “school confirmation” from “IRCC submission.” Different schools move at different speeds. If you’re replying, share your school type and how long your registrar usually takes to issue the completion letter after grades post.

I’m also curious how people handle employer onboarding expectations here. Have you seen employers accept a completion letter plus a short explanation of timing, or do they insist on a final transcript? What wording worked for you when you asked HR to adjust a start date?
